Welcome to my soul! My unique experiences living with cystic fibrosis, and having received both a lung transplant and a kidney transplant have blessed me with several speaking/writing opportunities that come straight from my heart and soul – thus “Soul Food.” I hope you find they nourish your soul every bit as my recipes nourish your belly! (I will be adding more, so check back!)

Jen- I am so happy to find your food blog! Is that what it is? I am sorry I do not know much about them except I love to visit and try recipes. I am told from friends that I need to start one but I am not sure if I have the energy….but your story has inspired me. I can’t pretend that I completely understand where you coming from BUT as a fairly young person suffering from a chronic disease I love to see people pushing through as I try to do. I have neurosarcoidosis which basically means my immune system is eating my brain, some of my lymph nodes in my lungs and who knows where else, anyway I related to your surgery drawing you ever closer to your man! I feel the same way….I have had this horrible disease for 4 years now and after a craniotomy and dealing with relapses and seizures and pain…my husband has really shown what a marriage mate should be like….
Sooo anyway sorry to ramble on, brain disease remember:), I am excited to try the cashew chicken salad, the spicy noodle bowl and also the coconut peanut pineapple chicken, plus more! Thanks!

I know i was touched by my guardian angel my mom, u c she passed away at the age of blink shy of her 90th birthday. Three mo. later to the day. I was going in to watch my son in a school play. Went thru a tiny door to auditorium. a man next to me accidently Nudge elbow me at my breat. Later that evning getting ready for bed. Saw my whole left breast black and blue. Called dr wright away. Went in had a sonogram done. a couple hrs later found out i was a stage 4 going into a stag 5. Dr. said it must have been a angel watching over you. cuz if u waited any longer. No good chances of survival. Told him how it happen. He said it must have been a angel sitting on ur shoulder. To have this happen, otherwise ull never have none. After surgery. chemo and radioation. Thank God no return at all 17 years cancer free. praise god

Hi Cecilia, I truly believe in guardian angels! Your mom and my brother who passed away must be hanging out in heaven watching over us ๐ What a remarkable experience you shared – and such a blessing and another blessing to be 17 years cancer free – truly remarkable. You are an incredibly strong woman and I am sure your mother is watching over you every day! Thanks for sharing! xo

Hi Jen
It was a joy to visit your site and I happily pinned some recipes, they looked divine. When I saw the category for soul food, I got excited, due to it being my heritage. What an amazement when I saw it was pertaining to the “genuine soul food”. From one Christian to another, keep pressing toward the mark of a higher calling in Christ Jesus. AMEN TO SOUL FOOD!!!
Jen says
Hi Audrey! What an awesome comment, thank you so so much! I am so honored to share some “soul food” – like you said, the most important kind of food! I hope you enjoy feasting – in more ways than one – at my site ๐

I feel so touched by some of the letters above, your strengths and achievements. What truly beautiful people you are. I read, just this morning “choose not to focus on what is missing but on the abundance that is present in our lives.” All of you do this so well ! I have been wearing a neck brace ( due to a broken neck) for the last 3 months and hopefully can remove it in 4 days. Love your recipes, my granddaughter introduced me to your lasagna soup which she raved about and I look forward to making it. I am experimenting with foods I have never had in my 86 years, decided to go wild and make beef cheek meat today. Ever tasted it ? God has truly blessed you, you have a radiant smile that conveys your joy of life !
Jen says
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment June and kind words! I am sorry you have been dealing with a broken neck – I hope you are as good as new very, very soon! I love that you’re experimenting with cooking – it adds fun and excitement to ordinary life! I have never made beef cheeks but thank you for the recommendation – it might be my new adventure in the kitchen ;). I hope you continue to heal! Much love and God bless! xo

Jen, I saw Iโd to my wife the other night, โthis is one sweet soul. She shares her recipes and doesnโt ask for people to buy her stuff. She has to be incredibly compassionate to do this. Now I find out that Jesus is involved, am I surprised? No!
Thank you for being so generous, kind and caring to want to bless others with you gift. Keep on because the blessing is coming your way!!
Jen says
Aw, thank you so much for your sweet message Don! It made my day!
