Avocado Hummus

This rich and creamy Avocado Hummus is SO delectable and requires only 3 ingredients!  This Avocado Hummus recipe is the best of guacamole and hummus combined in one spectacular dip or spread! It's healthy, satisfying, flavorful, super easy and would be the hit of any party or the perfect snack!  Serve Avocado Hummus with chips, crackers, veggies, on toast or as a sandwich spread.  No matter how you serve, Avocado Hummus makes EVERYTHING better!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium ripe avocados or 1 large peeled, pitted
  • 1 package McCormick® Guacamole Seasoning Mix
  • 1 cup Jalapeno Cilantro hummus*
  • Optional: lime juice to taste

Instructions

  • Mash avocados in a medium bowl. Stir in Seasoning Mix followed by hummus until well blended. Alternatively, you can mash and blend in a food processor for a smoother consistency.
  • Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes up to 24 hours to allow flavors to blend. Stir before serving.
  • Serve with pita chips, tortilla chips, veggies or as a sandwich spread.

Notes

*If you can't find Jalapeno Cilantro hummus OR you don't like heat, then substitute with plain hummus - still very flavorful.  You can then spice up your dip to taste with minced jalapenos and cilantro if desired.

TO MAKE AVOCADO HUMMUS FROM SCRATCH

  • 1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 2 tablespoons quality tahini
  • 3-4 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • McCormick's Guacamole Seasoning Mix
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • ½ -1 jalapeno, peeled, deveined, roughly chopped
  • ¼ cup  packed cilantro
  • 2 medium avocados or 1 large, pitted, and peeled
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Add all the ingredients to your food processor except avocados and puree until smooth, about 3 minutes.
  2. Add avocados directly to the food processor and process until smooth.  Add additional water, one tablespoon at a time, if needed to reach desired consistency.
  3. Season with additional salt and lime juice to taste.
